Yan Ji Seafood Soup for famous soup in Bedok

Seafood lovers will soon have another spot to head to for their fix. On 14 September 2022, family-run stall Yan Ji Seafood Soup is opening its first-ever outlet in the East, at Foodhub @ Bedok! The homegrown brand, which has been around since 1983, is popular for their slow-cooked broth and premium seafood.

The new stall is a short three-minute walk from Bedok MRT Station. If that’s out of the way for you, Yan Ji Seafood Soup also has three other locations: Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre, 21 Marsiling Lane, and 219 Jalan Besar.

Yan Ji Seafood Soup has made a name for itself, serving up piping hot bowls of rich and heady seafood broth prepared with old hen, pork ribs, Chinese ham, and Japanese scallops. The ingredients are slow-cooked for up to six hours for a robust seafood flavour.

The second-generation stall offers six dishes, with signatures such as the Premium Seafood Soup ($32), which comes loaded with crayfish, prawns, minced pork, red grouper, fish maw, half-shell scallops and baby abalone. This is one dish worth sharing if you’re up to splurge.

Otherwise, if you’re on a tighter budget, go for the Dory Seafood Soup ($7.50/$9.50) or Batang Seafood Soup ($12). Both options come with fresh fish slices, prawns, and minced pork.

The stall is run by second-generation owner Mr Chia Tok Wee, who took over his late father’s business in 2002.
