Fun fact, Hock Kee actually goes by another name which is Fu Ji Char Kway Teow! Using their own secret recipe that’s decades of years old, Hock Kee Char Kway Teow continues to be one of the most popular stalls at Berseh Food Centre to this day.

As compared to most stalls, Hock Kee’s char kway teow tends to be slight;y lighter in colour, making it lie more on the savoury side. Although this might not appeal to some, it is still up to personal preference after all so be sure to head down to give your own verdict.

With the smallest portion going for only $3.50, it certainly is one of the cheapest char kway teow you can find. Leaning towards the dry version, the flavours are slightly more savoury due to the lack of dark sauce. There is however an incredible amount of wok hei, giving a delightful smokiness to the noodles which linger as well. Each bite gives you a delightful burst of savouriness, smokiness, and spice, with a touch of sweetness for a beautiful symphony of flavours!

As for the ingredients, each one adds a layer of flavour and texture to the noodles for the perfect pairing. One slight disappointment is the amount of lup cheong and cockles as they were honestly abysmal. However, this could be due to the price point so be sure to order the bigger portions for a more substantial amount. Overall, other than the portion of ingredients, Hock Kee still serves up a tasty plate of char kway teow with flavours that are pretty on point. Definitely a spot worth checking out!
