Affordable Kway Chap At Sembawang Hills Food Centre

One of the more affordable spots at the hawker centre, San Ba Wang Guo Zhi Shu Shi only serves one dish at their stall, and they do it really well! Their Kway Chap is served at prices of only three and four dollars! Those are price points you certainly don’t find very often at most kway chap stalls!

For the four dollars portion, it comes with a generous serving of pork skin, tau pok, duck cubes, braised egg, intestines and of course, not forgetting the kway! The kway is incredibly silky and smooth and doesn’t clump together at all. Unlike your usual kway chaps, the soup here doesn’t have the herbal taste and has more of a savoury flavour to it which is pretty unique!

The pork skin has an amazing gelatinous texture, giving a delightful chewiness while the tau pok soaks up the flavourful sauce beautifully! The stand-outs are definitely the intestines! They are thoroughly cleaned, ensuring you get none of the overwhelming gamey taste. Although they could be cooked slightly longer for a softer texture, there is still a pleasant amount of chewiness. As for the duck cubes, they are tender and flavourful. Be sure to dip the ingredients into the chilli for a burst of spice, sweetness and tang!
