Ji Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist is currently run by Ms Choong, who is the third generation owner in the family. Her grandparents used to serve their noodles out of a pushcart along Chulia Street since 1963, before settling down at Hong Lim Food Centre in 1978. Serving up amazing wanton noodles to this day, they have certainly earned their ranks as one of the best wanton noodles in Singapore! They have achieved the Michelin Plate status from 2016 to 2019 and have even participated in the Michelin’s Guide’s Street Food Festival!

What makes them unique is their use of a machine that cooks and tosses the noodles! Due to the tireless long hours, the workload has affected Ms Choong’s wrist. This led to the integration of the machine to help lighten the load, allowing them to carry on their family’s legacy! Additionally, as they have a specific type of noodle manufactured for their stall, it gives the noodles an exceptionally bouncy and springy texture that customers can’t get enough of!
Scrumptious Wanton Noodles
The Char Siew Wanton Noodles are offered in an array of sizes, with the smallest being only $3 and the largest at $8. Springy noodles are tossed in a fragrant homemade sauce, with a dollop of Ji Ji’s chilli served on the side. Don’t forget to mix the chilli in for a burst of smokiness and spice! Additionally, the hae bi within the chilli gives a delightful aroma to the noodles! Bits of crunchy pork lard and shallots are also topped off for extra umami!
The char siew is tender and well-marinated, with the perfect fat-to-lean meat ratio. As for the mushrooms, they are pretty reminiscent of those found in bak chor mee. The star of the dish are no doubt Ji Ji’s fried wantons that are packed with a generous amount of pork filling. The tasty wantons are fried to perfection, giving them the most amazing crunch! Not only that, you get the best of both worlds as plump boiled wantons are also served! This is a stall that has truly earned its stripes!
