Those residing in Potong Pasir are in for a treat; new cafe Rise has opened its doors along Potong Pasir Ave 1, a brief two-minute walk from the MRT Station. The under-HDB cafe serves coffee, fresh waffles and gelato, as well as artisanal cakes perfect for dessert or tea time.

The aesthetic-looking cafe is decked in light pink interiors and chic wood furnishings, with a large circular window for natural light to stream in. Limited seats are available here, so make sure you visit during off-peak hours to snag a table.

Go for their Brown Butter Waffles (from $6), topped with a single ($3.90) or double ($7.50) scoop gelato for extra indulgence. There’s a wide selection of gelato on display to choose from, including White Peach Oolong, Earl Grey Lavender, Black Sesame, and Raspberry Lychee Rose. Premium flavours are available at a top-up of $1 each. You can choose to pair your dessert with a hand-rolled rosemary cone ($1) if you prefer.

For those who love their sweet treats, check out the array of freshly baked teacakes, including Strawberry Cheesecake Teacake ($7.20) and Yuzu Lemon Teacake ($6.20). There’s also a Black Sesame Teacake ($6.90), topped with a dark glaze and sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds for extra nuttiness.
Wash everything down with a cup of joe. Besides your regular black ($4.50) and white ($5.50) coffee, there’s a French Vanilla Latte ($6) and Toasted Hazelnut Latte ($6) if you’re up for something different. Otherwise, non-coffee drinkers can try their Orange Chocolate ($6.50) beverage.
