With the coconut shake craze taking over Singapore, even eateries are starting to join in! Tucked away at Tampines lies Cocokata where they serve a fusion of Thai food with the flavours of coconut! Coconut-themed Thai food might sound a little unusual to some of you but Cocokata certainly puts any doubts to rest with their scrumptious dishes! If you like your classic cuisines with a little twist, Cocokata is a place you definitely must try!

Cocokata is a relatively new stall, having opened only in May this year. The business was started by a group of four friends, where the idea dawned on them as they were having mookata together.With the coconut craze taking over Singapore, they went into numerous R&D to create their signature Thai food & Mookata made with coconut! Definitely a unique menu offering!

Seabass With Signature Coconut Sauce ($25)

The Coconut Sauce Seabass is a unique dish you definitely have to try! The seabass is fried to perfection, with a crispy golden brown skin. Perfect for the spice lovers, this dish seriously packs a punch! Mix the fragrant and flavourful coconut sauce with the soft and perfectly cooked fish for a balance of textures and flavours! With the spice to kick in at the end, every bite is simply delicious! Indeed a very unique pairing of coconut and fish that is executed perfectly!

Mookata (Paired with Coconut Broth)

Besides their coconut-themed dishes, they also offer everyone’s favourite, Mookata! Even the mookata is coconut-themed! Their meats are marinated for at least a day, ensuring every bite is an explosion of flavour! For their soups, they use Chinese herbs, coconut, chicken, water, and a blend of secret ingredients. Cocokata uses Thai coconuts, ensuring you get the best quality and the sweet and tropical taste with your dishes!

For the Chicken Platter ($10), it comes in black pepper, original, garlic, and coconut. The coconut chicken is certainly a flavour you don’t usually find at most mookata places! For the soup, it is less salty as compared to those you would usually find at normal mookata places. Cocokata’s soup has the fragrant smell of coconut and you can even taste it in the soup! Refreshing and sweet with every sip! To make things even better, four signature chillis are offered! Choices include suki sauce, seafood chilli sauce, coconut chilli, sweet sauce. Perfect for adding different dimensions of flavours to your meats! 

They also offer mookata delivery at $35 for a 2 pax set and $55 for a 4 pax set. Do note there is free delivery for orders above $80, and you can even mix both the Thai dishes and mookata together! For orders below $80, there will be a $10 delivery fee.

Tom Yum Prawn ($16)

For the Tom Yum Prawn, the tom yum flavour isn’t too prominent, which allows you to taste the freshness and sweetness of the prawns! The prawns are cooked well, giving you a pleasant bite to it. Every bite is a perfect balance of the tom yum flavour and the sweetness of the prawn. A simple dish that is cooked to perfection!

Prawn Omelette ($8)

The Prawn Omelette is definitely one dish to look out for! The egg is flavourful and super crispy! Have the egg and prawn together for a delightful bite! What’s unique about this dish is that it’s a Thai special, unlike the usual fried omelette dishes outside. A tasty dish you have to try! 

 Pineapple Fried Rice ($6)

The Pineapple Fried Rice is fragrant, with the pineapple and raisins giving it a touch of sweetness. Have it with the cashew nuts for a pleasant crunchy texture!  Definitely, a solid dish to go for if you need some carbs for your meal!

Handmade Prawn Cake ($9)

On the first look at the Prawn Cake, you might probably mistake it for a doughnut! This doughnut-shaped fritter is crunchy on the outside, with a paste inside containing small chunks of prawn. As they use a thin batter, you get a good blend of textures with the crispiness on the exterior with the prawns!

Handmade Pandan Chicken ($7)

The Pandan Chicken is soft and tender, and deep-fried to perfection! Tastewise, it’s similar to satay, without the satay sauce of course. The chicken is moist and the scent of pandan instantly hits you!

Handmade Fish Cake ($7)

The Fish Cake is made from Dory fish, which is beaten to a paste and mixed in with long beans and other ingredients. Each piece of fish cake is handmade with love by their Thai Chef, who inherited the recipe from his mother. The fish cake is then deep-fried to give its springy texture and a pleasant crunch. Each order of the fish cake is served with their Thai sweet chilli, giving a perfect blend of sweet and savoury, with a kick of spice! The inside is soft, yet there are different textures going on in each bite with the different ingredients used. The perfect side dish to go with your meal!

Glass Noodles Seafood Salad ($6.50)

The glass noodles salad has a good blend of sweet and citrus flavours. With different seafood and vegetables used, every bite is a surprise of textures and flavours! A pleasant and refreshing dish!
