Moo Station is run by a husband-and-wife duo, David and Sandy. Sandy, who was originally from Southern Thailand used to be a freelance tour guide in Phuket.  She was inspired by a Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded eatery she frequently visited serving Khao Tom Haeng, a Thai-style Dry Rice Porridge. She decided to bring a taste of it to Singapore and tried recreating the dish. After six relentless weeks of experimentation, Sandy finally perfected the recipe and opened Moo Station on Sept 18 this year. Keeping the dish authentic, Sandy prepares the dish using traditional Thai methods.

The Signature Pork Dry Rice Porridge is a definite must-try! This tasty dish comes in two sizes: Small ($5), and Large ($7). Each bowl of porridge comes with a generous amount of ingredients such as pork ribs, lean meat, handmade meatball, pork liver, and pork stomach. For the large portion, it includes additional items such as kidney, small intestines, and crispy pork belly. Finishing the dish off, a topping of fragrant fried garlic and pork lard is added for extra umami and crunch.

The rice from the porridge is cooked in a pork broth with a mix of spices that has been boiled for hours. The result is a savoury and fragrant porridge that’s simply delightful with every bite! The innards are fresh and cleaned well, without any trace of that strong funky smell. Additionally, they are cooked well, giving them the perfect tenderness.

The pork ribs are also tender and fall off the bone pretty easily. Coupled with a delicious pork belly with the perfect fat to meat ratio, you’re guaranteed a satisfying meal! For the spice lovers, do try their homemade Thai chilli sauce! It has the perfect balance of spice and sweetness that pairs well with every one of the ingredients. To elevate your dish even further, you can even choose to add an Onsen Egg ($0.80) or Fried Pork Skin ($1.50)!
