Here’s a list of 10 new restaurants in October 2021 you can explore, including a minimalist cafe serving stretchy pandan mochi waffles, and a popular Japanese tempura chain that has finally opened its doors in Singapore. This list consists of newly released menus at renowned restaurants as well. 


1. Glacier

Located right next to Jalan Besar MRT Station, Glacier is a newly opened cafe showcasing a simple yet IG-worthy interior. What’s unique about this place is that they open till 1am on weekends, so you can pop by for creamy gelato, waffles, and babkas for supper!

The best-seller here at Glacier is the Pandan Mochi Waffles ($8) that is filled with six squares of stretchy mochi cubes. Savoury delights include the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Toast ($19) or the aromatic Seafood Vongole ($23).

2. Chin Mee Chin

With a rich history dating back to 1925, Chin Mee Chin Confectionery has reopened after their closure back in 2018! You can’t miss out on their charcoal-toasted Kaya Toast ($2.20) that is slathered with creamy house-made Kaya (from $7 a jar) and a slab of butter. Dunk these in runny soft boil Eggs ($1.60) to complete your breakfast experience.

Apart from kaya toast and eggs, there are other sweet treats available here, including the Cheesecake Brownie ($2.60), Chocolate Cupcake ($1.80), and a Plain Cupcake ($1.60) as well. If you’re a fan of fluffy and airy bakes, you might enjoy the decadent Gula Melaka Coffee Chiffon Cake ($2.20)

3. Mezcla

The owners of The Feather Blade first wow-ed us with Rappu, their sushi roll concept late last year. Now, they have just come up with a fusion taco concept named MEZCLA, opened just a stone’s throw away from Rappu. Take a bite into their unique Salmon Skin Taco ($12.50+), which cleverly uses Mexican techniques and flavours on fresh Japanese ingredients.

A personal favourite is their Ancho Chile Pork Jowl Taco ($8.50+), filled with juicy and fatty cuts of pork, bedazzled with crunchy chicharrones atop. Of course, a Mexican meal is incomplete without some margaritas. Order their Flight of 3 ($16+) for a trio of Kyoho grape, pink guava, and mango margaritas.

4. Wild Child Pizzette

Opened by the same people behind Cicheti is Wild Child Pizzette, serving Neapolitan pizzas blistered in a wood-fired oven. Prepare to get spendy with their menu of seven pizzas priced from $15.50++. A unique must-try is the Crispy Fried Margherita ($21++) that has creamy cheese, bright semi-dried tomatoes, and basil leaves atop a base of fried pizza dough.

Every pizza here sports beautiful leoparding on each slice, thanks to the skilled use of an actual wood-fired oven in the restaurant on Circular Road. 5. Tempura Makino

The Makino Special Tendon ($25++) comes with a variety of ingredients including prawns, squid, fish, and an Egg Tempura ($1.50++) featuring a gooey centre. Zhng-up your tendon bowl and add on the rich and fresh Oyster ($3.80) or the unique Uni Ohba ($8.80)

RISE at Marina Bay Sands has revamped their all-day dining concept with a solid menu of local savoury food, desserts, and even cocktails. Start off with a fun treat from their very own kacang puteh pushcart, and pair the snacks with locally inspired Cendol Colada ($18++) or Milo Godzilla ($18++) cocktails.

There are set menus priced from $35++ per person featuring dishes such as bak kut teh made with premium pork ribs and double-boiled black chicken with scallop and figs. If you’re ordering a la carte, a definite item to try is their Har Cheong Gai ($35++). It is a whole, tender spring chicken, marinated in aromatic shrimp paste and deep-fried to a beautiful crunch.

Pair your ice cream with a crispy and fluffy Charcoal Waffle ($3.50), or the Original Waffle if you’re not feeling too adventurous.

Knock Knock Cafe is a newly opened floral-themed cafe in Kallang, serving Asian-inspired fusion dishes. The Otak-Otak Burger ($17+) sees a crispy batang fish patty coated in breadcrumbs, sandwiched between two fluffy buns. It is served with a side of fries and a savoury sambal mayo dip.

Following their newest outlet at Great World is a revamped menu filled with a variety of delicious Italian dishes. The Rucola e Crudo ($27) pizza is topped with slices of Parma Ham and fresh rocket leaves, offering a rich yet refreshing mouthful in every bite.
