Serangoon Gardens is no doubt one of the most popular hawker centers in Singapore. There is a plethora of amazing food there like Duck Rice, Fried Carrot Cake, to even old-school Luncheon Meat Buns. Included in that list, you will definitely find Seng Kee Mushroom Minced Pork Noodles. This is a stall you must try for a heavenly bowl of fish maw soup!
Seng Kee’s Fish Maw Soup
Mr Lee has been running his stall for the last 39 years. He first started Seng Kee at Eunos before settling at Serangoon Gardens. Renowned for their Bak Chor Mee, Mr Lee is known to toss his bowl up in the air when cooking the noodles. Although their stall name has “Minced Pork Noodles” in it, they also serve an excellent fish maw soup that customers can’t seem to get enough of.
Seng Kee’s fish maw soup ($10) has a generous amount of ingredients such as minced pork, pork liver, and quality fish maw. Additionally, it is topped with delicious mushroom slices. What’s special is that these mushrooms are braised for at least 4 hours, giving them an intense flavour.
The soup is boiled with pork bones for hours, and dried sole fish (ti poh) is added for extra depth and umami. This makes every sip of the soup an explosion of flavour. The premium quality fish maw soaks up all the flavour of the soup, making every bite taste like the scrumptious broth. Additionally, there is a $12 portion for those who can’t get enough of it!
Fish Maw Noodles Also Available
For the noodle lovers out there, you can also opt to order the Fish Maw Noodles Dry/Soup ($10/$12). Having it with noodles definitely makes the meal feel more substantial. The noodles in the soup really absorb the flavour of the broth, making every slurp truly enjoyable. Slurp away to your heart’s content! For the dry version, the noodles are cooked to a perfect al dente texture and mixed with their chilli and mushroom sauce.
Try Seng Kee’s Fish Maw Soup Now!
Do be sure to try out their crowd favourite Bak Chor Mee when you’re there as well! As they close at 1.30pm and there is always a long queue, it’s best to head down early! Hurry down and try it now!
