Halal restaurants for dates with dishes under $25
Though our pockets are getting lighter as we approach the end of the month, boyfriend or girlfriend duties are still in full swing. Thankfully, treating sayang to a nice dinner doesn’t mean you need to part with triple digits. Hidden all over Singapore are affordable halal date night restaurants to check out with dishes under $25.
1. Picanhas’
Steak for date night doesn’t have to be a pricey affair, especially when it’s at Picanhas’. The new steak bistro-bar at Club Street only has two mains on the menu, a 200g Signature Picanha Steak ($21++), and a Picanha Don ($16++). Regardless, each is a delicious journey through the picanha cut that some deem the king of all steaks.
Apart from the main dishes, choose from sides like Potatoes ($7), double-cooked in Sriracha mayonnaise, or top your steak with Foie Gras ($11) for an extra-sinful treat. Non-alcoholic mocktails are also available to sip on as you banter under the neon-lit bar.

As a bit of a hidden gem, Co-op makes for a cosy date night option in the East, especially if you live in Tampines. Their menu is packed with mains that mostly fall under $25, with options like a juicy Wagyu Beef Burger for just $22.90+, or their Spicy Ikura Prawn Pasta for $20.90+.
If you decide to have a lunch date instead, Co-op has a lunch set menu where you can have one main and one drink, for just $16.90+, perfect for student couples on a budget.

Asking bae to lepak at the void deck can now be a romantic affair, thanks to Flavour Flings. The cafe is located on the first floor of a Hougang HDB flat, allowing you to have a date night that’s closer to the heartlands.
As home to Singapore’s first Salted Egg Yolk Croissant ($6.90++), you can expect to be wowed by similar dishes like the Salted Egg Yolk Dirty Benny ($15.90++). For more adventurous diners, try out their Milo-Coated Chicken Popcorn ($9.90++), where popcorn chicken is drizzled with condensed milk, then dusted with malty Milo powder.

5. Andes by Astons

Astons has a halal offshoot called Andes, serving the same, affordable steaks we’ve all come to love.
You can never go wrong with their Chargrilled Chicken ($10.90) which is well-seasoned with a peppery kick. And just like Astons, every meal comes with two side dishes of your choice with their mac & cheese and onion rings being the most popular choices.
6. Brio

Taste the whole of Europe simply by heading to Brio at Jurong Point. As you browse their gazette-styled menu, marvel at the wealth of options they have; from tantalising tapas to excellent entrees.
Take a break from the usual beef burgers by choosing their Frenchie Duck Confit Burger ($15.80++) which consists of sweet shredded duck confit, layered with savoury Emmental cheese. To up the romantic vibes, share any one of their enormous pizzas with your partner. My personal recommendation would be the Tartufo ($22.50++)─a pizza that’s loaded with truffle puree, mushrooms and mozzarella balls, making it super indulgent.

8. I am…

The red statue in front of I am… Cafe brings to mind the “Amsterdam” sign in the Netherlands, and rightfully so. The cafe serves Dutch-inspired food with signature dishes including the Fries & Mayo ($7.90++) and Bitterballen ($10.90++)─a set of eight crispy meatballs with mustard on the side.
While the first floor of the cafe adopts an al fresco dining style, couples who need some privacy can request to seat upstairs where it’s way quieter and cooler.

Halal Western restaurant Royz et Vous has an extensive selection of affordable dishes, most of which are priced below $25. While you can get classics like Carbonara ($19.90++) and Beef Bolognese ($19.90++) here, the restaurant also has fusion dishes aplenty that makes them stand out. We highly recommend their Rendang Duck Pasta ($21.90++), where smoked duck is grilled and served with a homemade rendang cream sauce.
The eatery also has two outlets, one in Telok Ayer, and another near Bugis, so Royz et Vous makes for a convenient and central date night spot as well.
