Hello Korea Fair is at Takashimaya till 6 May 2024

We must be doing something right in April—as soon as we visited KK Market, a pop-up Korean street food market at Tanglin Mall, there’s yet another event that sounds just as enticing: Hello Korea Fair. Running till 6 May 2024, this Korean fair at Takashimaya Square offers a variety of street food that we think Singaporeans will love. Besides, plenty of trendy fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands are available too.

Out of their many offerings, Seoul Hotteok’s signature heart-shaped Sarang Hotteok (price TBD) caught my attention right off the bat. Many will be familiar with this popular winter snack in Korea, which features a deep-fried pancake generously packed with sugar syrup and nuts. Typically, it’s served as a flat, circular pancake. But at Hello Korea Fair, you can anticipate a lovely heart-shaped version instead.

Here’s a familiar face at the fair: MUGUNG, a Korean bibimbap restaurant in Telok Ayer. The last time we paid them a visit in 2023, we appreciated the hearty combination of chewy rice and fresh vegetables. Also, the savoury and well-marinated minced beef was our favourite topping during our visit. While we’re not exactly sure of the available MUGUNG items at the fair, we’re confident there will be the classic Beef Bibimbap (price TBD).

And of course, you can enjoy a spread of Korean street food with the likes of rabbokki, which is essentially a combination of ramyeon and tteokbokki. You also get fried dumplings, fried seaweed rolls, and a fish cake skewer to enjoy with your rabbokki.

A Korean fair isn’t complete without fried chicken. Keep your eyes peeled for the Fried Chicken Gangjeong (price TBD), a crispy chicken glazed in a sweet-salty or sweet-spicy sauce depending on what you get.

One can also look forward to the classic Korean egg bread at Eggseoul’s kiosk! According to the brand’s IG page, these cute egg-shaped treats come in flavours including Red Bean Custard (price TBD) and Tomato Beef (price TBD). Traditionally served piping hot during winter, these feature mildly sweet cakes stuffed with a range of sweet and savoury fillings.

Besides these snacks and meals, Hello Korea Fair has award-winning traditional Korean rice wines that you can bag home, too.

While we don’t have much information about the fair yet, we’re excited to see what they can offer. If you’re in Orchard, we encourage you to drop by Takashimaya Square and soak in the experience till 6 May 2024.
