Gino’s East has pop-up at Tenderfresh with famous deep-dish pizza

Yishun just got a whole lot cooler with the launch of Gino’s East Singapore! The famous Chicago deep-dish pizza chain has announced a limited-time pop-up at Tenderfresh Classic Northpoint City, a short stroll from Yishun MRT Station.

Gino’s East has been around since 1966. The Michelin-mentioned chain is best known for their nine-inch, deep-dish pizzas starring a thick, golden crust that’s made with a secret recipe. This Yishun pop-up is their first overseas outlet.

While their other branches in the US are non-halal—pork and alcohol are used there—this SG outpost serves only halal-certified pizzas. The pizza dough is prepared in a central kitchen in Singapore every morning, using carefully sourced ingredients, before it’s assembled and fired up at the restaurant right before serving. Do note that there is a waiting time of around 15 minutes.

Diners can look forward to three flavours at Tenderfresh Northpoint: Spinach Margherita ($28), Crumbled Chicken Sausage ($25), and Cheesy Legend ($28).

Here’s what you can expect: the ingredients and cheese are layered onto the thick pizza base, before a heaping serving of house-made tomato sauce is piled on top. Each pie is finished with parmesan cheese for an extra-cheesy affair.

The spinach flavour was a clear winner for us; this pie came loaded with a creamy and buttery spinach layer that paired well with the fresh mozzarella and basil.

The cheese pull for this pizza turned out the best, too.

If you love anything with cheese, try the Cheesy Legend flavour, which comprises four types: Italian mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, and fresh mozzarella. Otherwise, the Crumbled Chicken Sausage is worth getting, as it stars Gino’s East’s popular sausage that’s made with chicken instead of pork, but seasoned with the same spices.

When compared to most pizzas readily available in Singapore, Gino’s East pizzas are much saucier and cheesier, with a thicker and denser crust that’s slightly crispy. The dough also boasts a unique golden-yellow shade, thanks to a secret ingredient.

There’s a limited number of pies available each day and we’re not sure how long this pop-up will last, so make sure you come by earlier to get your fix!

If pizzas aren’t enough, zhng up your meal with some Tenderfresh’s classics, including their Signature Fried Spring Chicken ($18.90), made with fresh chicken that’s marinated for 24 hours.
