Freshio Gelato opens second outlet in Maxwell

If you love pistachio gelato as much as we do, chances are you’ve already heard of Freshio Gelato. The popular gelateria recently opened its second outlet at Kada in the CBD, just a two-minute walk from Maxwell MRT Station!

Run by 72-year-old Uncle KT and 75-year-old Aunty Stephanie, Freshio first made waves with its original Bencoolen outlet, which currently boasts an impressive 4.9-star rating from over 1,500 Google reviews.

Their new Maxwell outlet is located on the ground floor of the restored three-storey building at KADA, which was formerly a hospital dating back to the 1920s.

There’s plenty of seating here too, making it a nice spot to chill with friends over dessert.

You’ll find 16 gelato flavours here, all freshly churned in-house daily.

If it’s your first visit, go for their bestselling Sicilian Pistachio Gelato ($6.80) and Turkish Hazelnut Gelato ($5.80).

The pistachio gelato comes topped with an extra scoop of pistachio bits for added crunch and nuttiness.

We found the gelato rich, creamy, and packed with roasted pistachio flavour, though it leaned slightly sweet towards the end.

Still, it’s easily one of the better pistachio gelatos we’ve tried in Singapore.

As an affogato fan, I couldn’t leave without trying the Pistachio Affogato ($12), which pairs their signature pistachio gelato with freshly pulled espresso.

This trendy dessert combines freshly churned gelato with a shot of espresso poured over the top, creating a rich mix of creamy sweetness and bold coffee flavours.

The contrast between the hot espresso and cold gelato made every spoonful especially shiok. My only gripe was that the dessert melted pretty quickly, so you’ll want to dig in fast before it turns into a puddle.

We also enjoyed the Tiramisu Affogato ($12), topped with crushed Biscoff cookies.

If you’re here with a friend, get two cups for $20—you’ll save $2 per cup this way!

Another interesting option here is the gelato sandwich, where your choice of gelato is stuffed between buttery brioche buns, then lightly pressed in a panini maker for a crisp, warm finish.

Simply pick your preferred gelato flavour and top up $3.50 to turn it into a panini-style dessert.

We chose the New York Cheesecake Gelato ($5.50), which boasted a tangy, cream cheese flavour that paired well with the sweet, toasted brioche buns.

If you’re around the Maxwell area, do swing by and show some support for Uncle KT and Aunty Stephanie at their new outlet with a scoop or two!
