Royal Host to open at Jewel Changi

Tokyo has no shortage of great restaurants to dine at, if our past travel experiences, and our best Tokyo food guide is anything to go by. While there’s plenty of traditionally Japanese eats to explore around the city, anyone who has ever been to Tokyo will know that yoshoku, or Western-Japanese fusion, restaurants and diners are a local favourite for quick, fuss-free meals. Denny’s from America is a huge franchise in Tokyo, but Royal Host is another one that is fairly popular.

If you’re a fan of Royal Host, we’ll cut to the chase now to say that the beloved Tokyo diner is coming to Singapore on 19 July 2024, according to a press release. This is the brand’s first overseas outlet, and is slated to make its debut in Jewel Changi. The restaurant is able to seat 90 people, across over 3,200 square feet.

However, if you’ve never bothered to step into Royal Host while you’re on your Tokyo vacay, let’s give you the lowdown. Royal Host has been open for five decades now, and has over 20 outlets around Japan.

They’re very well known for their yoshoku interpretations of classic Western dishes, from French onion soup to gratins, and hamburg steaks. They’ve also got Western breakfast dishes, from omelettes to big breakfast platters.

We’re not entirely sure what they’ll have on the menu at Royal Host Singapore just yet, but diners can expect that a majority of ingredients used in the dishes will be air-flown from Japan, so hopefully your experience will be as close to dining at the diner in Tokyo as possible. From what we know, there will be breakfast options, as well as yoshoku mains, and Japanese desserts available.
