Hundred Grains opens at Asia Square with self-service cai fan
When Hundred Grains launched at Alexandra Retail Centre last year, the modern cai png eatery was met with mixed reviews. Some thought the pay-by-weight concept was novel, while others felt it was too expensive for what looked like economy rice. Regardless, the self-service eatery has just opened a new outlet in the CBD, at Asia Square Tower 2!
This Self-Service Cai Png Cafe In Alexandra Has 60 Dishes To Choose From And Free-Flow Rice
We visited Hundred Grains in November 2023 and were impressed by the huge lineup of dishes to choose from. In case you didn’t know, here’s how it works: simply pick a tray and fill it up with your choice of ingredients—there were 60 to choose from at their Alexandra branch.
Then, head to the self-checkout counter, where you’ll weigh your tray and pay according to how heavy it is. Over at the Alexandra outlet, the price was $3.98+ per 100g. We’re not sure if this new CBD branch will adopt the same pricing system, but we do know there’s a limited-time promotional price of $3.18 per 100g with a minimum of 150g in your tray, according to a Singapore Beauty exclusive!
Cai png toppings include staples such as Mapo Tofu, Steamed Egg with Shrimp, and Crispy Pork In Sweet and Sour Sauce, though we also spotted lesser-seen items such as Pickled Pepper Frog and Stir-fried Tripe at their first location.
That’s not all: rice, congee, and drinks are all free-flow, too!
Hundred Grains Asia Square is located at Asia Square Food Garden, opposite Okasa Sushi Bar. It’s a one-minute walk from Shenton Way MRT Station.
