Japanese family restaurant chain Royal Host is slated to open their second outlet at Takashimaya Shopping Centre soon. This is hot on the heels of their very first outlet in Singapore at Jewel Changi sometime in July 2024.
For the uninitiated, Royal Host is a popular family restaurant with a history of over 50 years in Japan, having opened over 223 outlets since then. The restaurant specialises in the well-loved Japanese fusion food, alongside other popular eateries such as Milan Shokudo.
20 Best Japanese Restaurants In Singapore
Back when we visited their Jewel Changi outlet, we were impressed with their “ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup ($7.80++) starter. The consomme boasted a generous amount of gooey cheese, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of caramelised onions. Fun fact, this dish was even approved by Marilyn Monroe back when she visited Royal Host in Japan!
A Japanese-Western restaurant isn’t complete without the classic omurice or omelette-topped rice, and it’s extra special here because they use fresh eggs from Japan as well as their own demi-glace sauce recipe.
Variations include the simple “ROYAL” Omurice Demiglace Sauce ($26.80++), the more extravagant Hiroshima Oyster & White Cream Sauce ($28.80++), and Snow Crab & Chilli Sauce ($30.80++).
Another must-try is their highly-raved “ROYAL” Hamburg Steak ($29.80++). We recommend pairing this with the black pepper sauce which perfectly elevates the flavours of the meat.
Royal Host’s new outlet will be at Takashimaya Shopping Centre which is a five-minute walk from Orchard MRT Station.
We are not exactly sure when the new outlet will be opening its doors, so keep an eye on this space for the latest updates!
