Those living in the East are in luck: you can now get your hands on the viral coin pancake at Waffle Aunty, an under-the-radar kiosk in Pasir Ris’ Elias Mall!

Also known as Korean coin bread, the coin-shaped pancake has been making its rounds all over the ‘gram. It seems to be the new “in” thing lately, with vendors such as B for Bagel and 10 Cent Pancake jumping on the hype train.
Over at Waffle Aunty, the pancake is called the Huat Cake for the obvious reason: each pancake sports a “發” embossing, translating to “huat”.

You can expect a myriad of flavours, with popular picks such as Nian Gao ($5), Nutella (price TBD), and Cheese (price TBD). These baked-to-order pancakes are said to be golden-brown with a fluffy middle, complemented by a generous amount of filling.

Besides these trendy coin pancakes, Waffle Aunty also offers uber-cute Smiling Egglettes, served in IG-worthy “egg” cartons. If these egglets look familiar, that’s because the kiosk was selling them back when they used to be a home-based business.
These light and fluffy pancakes come in a wide range of fillings, from Biscoff ($2.50) and Black Sesame ($2.50) to savoury Hae Bee Hiam ($2.50). There’s also a Nian Gao ($2.50) flavour that comes with a chewy rice cake middle. You can get them at $12 for a box of six, or $10 for selected flavours.

The takeaway-only kiosk is an 18-minute walk or 10-minute bus ride from Pasir Ris MRT Station.
