We love uncovering under-HDB cafe gems in Singapore, so we were stoked to find out about New Deli Bakes, a Tampines bakery that has recently moved from MacPherson. Located under a HDB block, the homegrown bakery offers freshly baked croissants and pastries from just $4, alongside a small drinks menu. It’s also run by a baker who used to work at Tiong Bahru Bakery, so you know the pastries will be legit!

Their signature Plain Croissant ($4) is said to be perfectly flaky and buttery, pairing well with your morning coffee.

For something more sinful, there’s the Double Matcha Croissant ($6.50): laminated pastry dough filled with matcha-spiked cream, topped with more matcha powder.

Alternatively, the Double Houjicha Croissant ($6.50) is a worthy contender, generously piped with roasted green tea cream.

Regulars love their Vanilla Kouign-amann ($4.60), too. Made with French butter and vanilla bean pods from Papua New Guinea, this bake is said to be crispy with a caramelised crust. revealing buttery and fragrant layers within.
If you need your caffeine fix, coffee is well-priced here, starting at $4 for a cup of Americano. They also have Homemade Salted Caramel Latte ($5.80), as well as Matcha ($5.20) and Houjicha ($5.20) lattes if you prefer tea. Opt for the iced versions at a $1 top-up.
