Cafe Gui Chinatown sports a unique Hanok-inspired decor, with wooden structures and carvings resembling a traditional Korean house. The spacious cafe also boasts minimalist interiors similar to the original store we reviewed last year.
Food-wise, you can look forward to the cafe’s signature items, along with a few new additions to the menu. There’s the popular Dosirak Rice Bowl ($15.90+): a Korean-inspired lunch box with short-grain rice, fried Spam slices, kimchi, pickles, seaweed, and a sunny-side up.
You’re meant to break into the yolk and shake up the box to mix everything together, before enjoying!
Another must-order is the Dalgona Honeycomb ($9.90+), which nods to the viral dalgona candy from the hit series Squid Game.
The creamy latte features fresh milk spiked with espresso, and topped with house-made honeycomb candy pieces that melt into the drink, infusing a caramelly sweetness.
There’s also the Hojicha Pudding ($7.90+): smooth and creamy pudding topped with house-made hojicha syrup, served in a cute glass jar.
Besides old favourites, the Chinatown cafe will also offer new drinks and desserts, including Japanese Matcha Tiramisu ($10.90+) and Blue Blossom ($4.50), a caffeine-free mix of blue pea and cultured milk.
Another unique spot in Chinatown worth visiting is Cafe Monochrome, a 2D cafe with oriental designs and all-day brunch fare. If you’re up for more grub in the area, read our guide to the best food in Chinatown, including cheap hotpot buffet and famous curry noodles.
