Irvins and Wingstop have new salted egg chicken wings
Salted egg yolk is one of Singapore’s unofficial national flavours, and it’s easy to see why it continues to be loved far and wide even today. There’s just something addictive about this sweet, creamy, and savoury sauce, with its molten and slightly grainy texture, which pairs surprisingly well with many dishes—seafood, chips, and even desserts. This explains why we’re thrilled about the collaboration between Irvins and Wingstop, which birthed an all-new salted egg chicken wings series!
The new chicken wings are evenly coated and tossed in Irvins’ Dangerously Addictive salted egg sauce, which is created to taste slightly different from their salted egg snacks.
FYI, the new flavour is available for both classic and boneless wings—we got the latter for a hassle-free meal.
For the best experience, get the Salted Egg Combo ($13.90), which consists of three pieces of salted egg boneless wings, another three pieces in a flavour of your choice, large Voodoo fries, ranch dip on the side, and a regular drink.
There’s also a value-for-money alternative that feeds up to four people, named the Salted Egg Bundle ($57.90). This comprises 12 pieces of salted egg boneless wings, another 12 pieces in two flavours of your choice, three large fries, large mushroom fritters, four ranch dips, and four regular drinks.
If you think salted egg chicken wings sound rather jelak, you’ll be surprised to find out how light the sauce is. My colleague and I appreciated that there was a balance of sweet and salty flavours, without having one overpower the other. The sauce was also on the smoother side, complemented by the crispy salted egg crumbs on top.
While the salted egg chicken wings paired well with ranch, we preferred having them on their own to savour the flavour.
The new flavour will be available at all Wingstop outlets from 14 November 2024 for a limited time, so make your way down ASAP before it’s taken off the menu.
