And before you go into a frenzy—yes, mealworms are part of the 16 species of insects that have been approved by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) for consumption. They’re also said to be a great source of protein!
At Takagi Ramen, the mealworms are a free topping if you order their prawn noodles. They’re deep-fried till crunchy, adding a unique texture to the dish.

On to the new noodles: Takagi Ramen has rolled out two new prawn noodle dishes, the Fiery Dry Prawn Noodle ($10.90) and Mysterious Prawn Noodle Soup ($10.90). The Japanese-Singaporean dish features prawn heads that are simmered for four hours, then mixed with Takagi’s signature tonkotsu broth. Each serving comes with jumbo prawns, springy ramen noodles, and a house-made spicy sauce that’s packed with umami.
Both items are also available as a set meal with one of their new drinks at $12.90. For your beverage, you get to choose between the Divine Soursop Potion (U.P. $3.90) and Enchanted Fruit Talisman (U.P. $3.90)—an ice-blended fruity concoction.
