The owner, Mr Koh, first started his business at Simei before settling down at his current location at Yuhua Place in 2003. The Penang Laksa, though might seem like a simple dish actually takes fours hours of preparation! The delicious broth is made with a plethora of fresh ingredients- lemongrass, tamarind, mint leaves, laksa leaves, torch ginger flower, pineapple, lettuce, cucumber, and minced mackerel. What you get is a delicious and aromatic broth that leaves you wanting more with every sip!

The Penang Laksa ($3.50) comes with your typical white bee hoon, with every strand soaking up that rich and delicious broth filled with a beautiful tamarind flavour. Be sure to add the prawn paste sauce for a burst of flavour with the perfect balance of sweetness, tanginess, and spice! With the addition of the mackerel, mint leaves, onion and pineapple slices, every bite is elevated with the different dimensions of flavour and texture from each ingredient! Definitely a must-try dish!

Not only that, the laksa lies more on the healthier side, having only 290 calories! To put things into perspective, three slices of white bread already has 198 calories, making the laksa a good healthier-choice option! Indulge in this tasty dish without worrying about the guilt! Do note the laksa is only available from Friday to Sunday so be sure to get them when you’re there!
