The popular stall at Bendemeer Food Centre selling $1 Chee Cheong Fun has been permanently shut after the elderly stall owner fell at home in the middle of the night and passed away.

Nan Rong Chee Cheong Fun Owner Passes Away At 83

Affectionately known as Uncle Chee Cheong Fun of Nan Rong Chee Cheong Fun stall, the 83-year-old owner, Chen Qingquan, suffered a fall at about 2 am on 3 Jan. He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon. The hawker is survived by his 81-year-old wife and son.

After 20 years, Nan Rong Chee Cheong Fun will now close down for good and the late hawker’s wife will retire as a result of Chen’s untimely demise.
