Bahrakath Mutton Soup has famous kambing soup at Adam Road Food Centre

Bahrakath Mutton Soup has been serving their namesake dish at Adam Road Food Centre since 1973, and have received rave reviews from locals and tourists alike. This year, the humble stall was further thrust into the spotlight after being placed on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list!

For the uninitiated, mutton soup, AKA sup kambing, is a rich, savoury broth prepared by simmering mutton with a variety of vegetables and ground spices. The result is a comfort dish enjoyed by many across Southeast Asia.

At Bahrakath’s, it is offered with different cuts of mutton. Their most popular item on the menu is Mutton Leg Soup ($8), which features bone-in mutton leg in a heady herbal soup. For the same price, you could switch out the leg for mutton tripe, tongue, or even lamb brain. If you’re looking for more conventional cuts, mutton meat chunks or ribs are also available at $7.

Bahrakath’s soups are best enjoyed with bread, which can be purchased separately for an additional $1 per half loaf. This might not be substantial enough for big eaters, but fret not, because mutton soup is not the only dish on Bahrakath’s menu.

For something heartier, order their Chicken or Mutton Biryani instead, which gets you a heaping serve of basmati rice and one of the proteins for $8.

Soup kambing can be hard to come by in Singapore, so check out our Haji M. Abdul Rajak review for another stall serving this hearty dish. They serve similar cuts of mutton and are Muslim-owned too. Alternatively, head over to neighbouring stall Selamat Datang Warong Pak Sapari at Adam Road Food Centre for Michelin-approved mee soto and mee rebus!
